New MEGApix Firmware Options
04/15/2014
Issue: Recent changes to the MEGApix models and their hardware created a new line of firmware files and upgrading options. Cameras can now be differentiated according to their internal storage capabilities. Each option requires different firmware. MEGApix Current Hardware (64MB): All MEGApix cameras currently running with 64MB hardware must have the latest firmware version: 1.1.3.3 (except MPA20M. Please see below for more information). This firmware can be found and downloaded from the digital watchdog website. Please be mindful of the version number as it appears in the download page. File Name: (Camera Part #) 64MB Server V1.1.3.3 MEGApix New Hardware (128MB): All DW®’s MEGApix IP cameras have been upgraded to increase the camera’s memory size from 64M to 128MB. This increase allows the cameras to perform faster. In addition, this is a step in the process of unifying all of the MEGApix cameras’ firmware to a single firmware for ease of use. The firmware for 64MB models is NOT compatible with 128MB model cameras, and vice versa. Before downloading a firmware for any MEGApix camera, make sure to check if the camera has 64MB or 128MB flash memory. The cameras’ firmware version jumps drastically between the 64MB and 128MB camera versions for easy identification. Refer to the information below: 64MB Firmware Range: 1.X.X.X~ 1.1.3.3* 128MB Firmware Range: 2.0.1.6~ 2.1.0.7* 128MB cameras will be indicated in the IP Finder as 128MB. Go to the camera’s Setup menuà Systemà System Management. The camera’s flash memory size will be indicated under the System Version. New MEGApix cameras with 128MB flash memory have new firmware and server files available for download on DW®’s website. Be sure to check and make sure your camera is running the latest firmware (Kernel) and server versions. File name: MEGApix 128MB Server V2.1.0.7 / MEGApix 128MB Kernel V2.1.0.0. MPA20M Firmware Options: The MPA20M cameras have three (3) different firmware files. For the majority of cases, the MPA20M models available in the field will be 64MB flash memory hardware version. For these models, the camera’s sensor version will affect which firmware file is necessary. To make sure you install the proper firmware file, try installing both files. If the camera is older (close to 2.5 ~ 3 years), try the OMNI firmware file first. The MPA20M’s latest firmware is 1.1.3.2. For cameras running the 128MB Flash memory, install the new firmware available on the DW® website. (File name: MEGApix 128MB Server V2.1.0.7). Files that do not match the flash drive size or chip will not install properly, and will prompt you to locate the correct installation files. File Names: Sony Camera: MPA20M SONY 64MB Server V1.1.3.2 OMNI Camera: MPA20M OMNI 64MB Server V1.1.3.2 128MB Camera: MEGApix 128MB Server V2.1.0.7 / MEGApix 128MB Kernel V2.1.0.0.
